Why Central?

I transferred to Central because I wanted a more personalized education.  I wanted to have more opportunities with hands on experiences.  I also wanted a better relationship with my professors.

Favorite professor and why?

Dr. Brian Peterson. I’ve only had him in one class, but he was one of the first people to welcome me to Central when I arrived during orientation.  His sense of humor is extremely unique but second to none.  He has been very helpful to me during my time at Central and truly helps make this place special to me.

In your iPod?

I think the easier thing would be to tell you what isn’t in my iPhone.  I have a broad music collection spanning from Bowling for Soup, Three Days Grace, Bassnectar, Katy Perry, to band music I played in high school.

You’re majoring in exercise science because?

I wanted a profession that allowed me to work hands on with other people.  I’ve played sports my entire life and since my playing career is coming to end I wanted the opportunity to still be around the games that I love, just in a different role!

If you could choose any professional player to be your doubles partner, who would you choose?

Well, I have literally debated with myself for a week over this, and I can not decide between two people.  However! They are of opposite gender so technically speaking I could play regular doubles with one partner and mixed doubles with the other.  My two choices would be Roger Federer and Maria Sharapova.

Best part of studying abroad last semester?

I got to spend a wonderful weekend in London with (softball player) Taylor Sohn and we visited Wimbledon, the Olympic Park, and saw an NFL game!

What’s the ultimate condiment?

I would say ketchup, but I’m a pretty picky eater so I only use it with select foods.  But it is amazing.

If you could master one skill you don’t have right now, what would it be?

This would be a tie between being able to play the piano and being able to dance.  I’d have to flip a coin to make this decision in real life.

If you could bring back one musician from the dead, who would you chose?

I would probably have to pick Michael Jackson.  Despite me not being alive for most of his best music, that man was truly something special to music and the music industry.

Best advice you’ve ever received from a coach

Remember that life is bigger than the game in which you are playing.  Win or lose, sport is an avenue to grow as an individual.  Be remembered for who you act as an athlete and as a person outside of the field/court.

if you were invisible, where would you go?

Well…….Probably somewhere I shouldn’t be. Not 100% sure how I would abuse that power, but I’m willing to admit that I would.

The one thing people don’t know about Coach Ferrell

Coach Ferrell is the most fashionable person we have on the team!  He showed up to a meet this year with his khakis, wallet chain, scarf, Under Armor jacket, and fingerless gloves. It was a scene straight off the runway.  He is probably in the new Zoolander Movie with those looks.

Why do you love Central tennis?

I love Central tennis because it gives me the opportunity to continue to play the sport that I love.  It also gives me to chance to learn from two amazing coaches, as one day I would like to be a tennis coach at some level.

“Ten years from now I’ll...”

Hopefully have a job that I enjoy, preferably coaching or helping athletes in some way.  I would also like to have a lovely woman as my wife, and be there to help her achieve her goals as well!

Favorite food from Central Market

Gah…. The fried ravioli is really really good….. but so is fresh cookie Tuesday….. if I put one on top of the other can I create one food and choose that?

Bucket list

Visit all four major tournament arenas for tennis. (1 down, 3 to go!)

Set foot on the field at Kinnick Stadium.

Get something autographed by one of my favorite tennis players.
