Why did you choose Central?
I chose Central because it felt like home. I am from a small town and Central gave me a small-town feel.
Favorite professor and why?
This is tough. I think I’d have to say Mary Stark. She is the sweetest lady. She always emails me congratulating me about a meet or just simply checking in. I enjoyed Julianne Taylor, Tammy Strawser, and Erin Durflinger as well. They truly are here for you and care about each of their students.
You’re majoring in Elementary Education because?
I am majoring in Elementary Education with endorsements in Special Education, Reading, and Coaching. I started out a biology major with hopes of becoming a chiropractor, but I took the introductory education classes and fell in love with them.
Besides athletics, what else are you involved in on campus?
With student teaching right now, I don’t really have time to be involved in much other than track. Throughout my time at Central College, I have been an RA, part of SSS, and in the Random Acts of Kindness Club.
Who are your go-to musical artists?
Anything country, especially 80s and 90s country. Cody Johnson, George Strait, and Lainey Wilson are among my favorites!
How has attending Central and playing a sport impacted your life?
I have met so many people, not just from Central but all the schools we have competed against which has lead to many lifelong friendships.
What is your favorite thing to do during Pella’s Tulip Time?
I enjoyed going to the dig day and digging up some tulips for my friends and family.
What is a movie you wish had a sequel?
I wish they would keep going with the 21 Jump Street series.
Teammate who you’d take on the Amazing Race with you?
Martin Vineyard
What is your favorite lifting exercise?
Back squat for sure!
Favorite TV Show
The Ranch or Pawn Stars.
What’s it like to compete for Coach Sturman?
I mostly work with Coach Walz and I enjoy all of his jokes and dancing. Sturm is pretty funny too. I also enjoy working with Coach Sagar. He is one of the best coaches I have ever had. He is always checking in and is one of the biggest supporters.
What’s your favorite part about being a member of Central track and field?
The throwers and Coach Walz and Coach Dunham. How many other athletes can say their coaches had matching cars?!
What do you hope to be doing 10 years from now?
I hope to be teaching, coaching, and just enjoying life.
Favorite food from Central Market
Sweet Chili Chicken Flatbread
Bucket list
I want to travel to the ocean, travel to the Maples Ridge Cabins in Tennessee, and learn to play guitar.
