Why did you choose Central?
Long story but Levi and I missed the state wrestling tournament our senior year due to injury and wanted to wrestle one more time. There was a random tournament that we went to in Des Moines. One of the Iowa team coaches put us in contact with Coach Van Kley and that is how we got recruited. We committed to Central a few days before orientation so it was a pretty late decision. I saw that the coaches at Central really care about every guy on the roster and decided that I wanted to be a part of what was being built!
Favorite professor and why?
Dr. Pavlat, Dave is an easy-going professor that is always willing to help out. He’s also pretty funny
You’re majoring in kinesiology because?
To go to nursing school and it's pretty interesting material
Who are your go-to musical artists?
Currently J. Cole, Tory Lanez, and The Weeknd. I listen to a lot of different genres so it’s always changing
How has attending Central and playing a sport impacted your life?
Met some lifelong friends that I can always count on through Central and wrestling. I have learned the value of hard work and discipline.
Dream vacation spot?
Hawaii. I’ve been once but it was so awesome that I really would like to go again at some point.
What’s your best story about being mistaken for your twin?
It happens almost every day when you are a twin, so you learn to just pretend that you are the other twin. I feel bad correcting people sometimes because they get all upset when they mess up names. There are so many good pranks that we have pulled over the years so it’s difficult to pick just one story over all. One time in high school, Levi and I had the same Geometry class. I didn’t do the homework one night but Levi completed his work and turned it in. The teacher accidentally gave me a 100% and Levi a zero. Can’t speak for Levi but I had a good laugh about that one. Also that was definitely not the last time I used his name to get out of trouble.
Favorite superhero?
Batman hands down. I grew up playing the Batman games on Xbox, so I have always been a fan of that character. Plus Batman has the best comics and tv shows.
Best place to eat in Memphis?
Central BBQ or any chicken wing place
What’s it like to compete for Coach Van Kley?
Coach Van Kley really knows how to get the best out of you. He cares much more about the people we will be in 10 years than the wrestler we are now. Coach always pushes me to be a better man in life that can handle whatever comes next.
What’s your favorite part about being a member of Central wrestling?
It’s a fun atmosphere. The team is always joking around when it isn’t time to be serious. I know that those guys have my back no matter if I win or lose, so it makes it a lot easier to compete when there is so much support.
