Class of 2023
Why did you chose Central?
I chose Central because it felt like home away from home when I first visited. I also chose it for the softball program. After an overnight visit, I was able to see what an everyday life would look like with classes and practice. I loved the atmosphere of practice, the coaches, and the team.
Favorite professor and why?
Dr. Shuger Fox - my first class was her Sports Nutrition class that I took my Senior year. I took it more as an elective since I was a Biology major and wanted to learn more about nutrition. I ended up enjoying her class a lot and is probably one of my favorite classes I have taken. She is very easy to talk to and is always so personable when I see her.
You’re majoring in Biology because?
I was pursuing the medical field when coming to Central and was just accepted into University of Dubuque’s Physician Assistant program this past Fall.
Besides athletics, what else are you involved in on campus?
I have been involved with Student Senate and Dance Marathon for 2 years. I had the opportunity to do the Chicago semester program in the Fall of 2021 and I loved everything about it. However this past year I have put more of my energy on softball and working.
Who are your go-to musical artists?
I don’t have one go-to artist but I love country music. More recently I have been loving Morgan Wallen, Kelsea Ballernini, and Luke Combs.
How has attending Central and playing a sport impacted your life?
Attending Central and especially playing softball here has had such a positive impact on my life. Building friendships with people, both on my team and off, has made my time here so enjoyable.
Have you named your car and if so what do you call it?
I have not named my car, although my friends like to think it’s name is Fronk the Fusion.
Most embarrassing moment in softball career?
Where do I start….Slipping and falling on a turf field while running the bases, cheering on my pitcher during the game only I was using the wrong name, tripping over our home plate mat in practice and falling in the fieldhouse, and every post-gameday voice by completely losing my voice from cheering.
The best ice cream in the world comes from…?
Ev’s ice cream, more specifically the Lemon/Raspberry twist cone.
If you could live in any Disney movie, which would you choose and why?
Live action Beauty and the Beast or Moana, both are hands down my favorite Disney movies.
Favorite TV Show
Vampire Diaries, I could answer any question and get it right without a doubt. I also love Friends to throw on at any time.
What’s it like to play for Coach Wares?
It is very challenging, yet very rewarding to play for Coach Wares. He challenges you everyday in practice, teaches you all the little aspects about the game, and most importantly wants to see you succeed.
What’s your favorite part about being a member of Central softball?
Central softball is a very special program to be in. You have so many people who care deeply to see you grow as a player and also as a person. I am very lucky to have a coaching staff who have an established culture, an ongoing connection with alumni who have played here 50+ years prior, and have had the opportunity to increase my knowledge about the sport itself. The connections I have made here with my teammates will be friendships that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
What do you hope to be doing 10 years from now?
In 10 years I will be 32, so I hope to be a successful PA working in a hospital, married with a few kids possibly, and for sure have a puppy.
Favorite food from Central Market
A new favorite is Avocado Toast but a classic is omelet day.
Bucket list
I have always wanted to go skydiving! I think it would be a lot of fun to do it in a destination location like on the beach or close to the mountains.
