Why did you choose Central?

I chose Central because I enjoyed the XC/T&F team atmosphere. I remember on my visit feeling at home at Central with opportunities to develop friendships with truly great people. I have definitely learned a lot from my peers and developed into a much better runner with their help. Along with the team aspect, I knew being coached by Dunham would make me a better athlete but also develop me as an individual to be successful after college. Finally, I knew I would get a great education in a small school environment similar to my high school which I liked.

Favorite professor and why?

I am lucky enough to have had a lot of great professors during my time at Central College. I would say my favorite professor would be one of our economics professors, Professor George. He always comes to class with a big smile on his face and positive energy which definitely rubs off on the students in his classes.

You’re majoring in business management because?

I’m majoring in business management with an emphasis in finance because I have always been good with numbers and interested in how businesses work. My family farms so I am hoping the education I get here at Central can help me understand our finances and make good financial decisions in the future. I am also minoring in economics which has been very interesting over the past couple of years since the economy has been recovering from the pandemic and now from inflation.

Besides athletics, what else are you involved in on campus?

Our men’s cross country team has a Bible study that we have every week that I go to very often. Besides that, I try to attend other sporting events to watch our teams compete. I think running 3 seasons (cross country plus indoor and outdoor track) for Coach Dunham definitely keeps me busy year round.

Who are your go-to musical artists?

I’m a pretty big fan of country music but I am not too specific about artists. I guess I like the typical popular artists like Morgan Wallen, Sam Hunt, Jake Owen, etc. I listen to other types of music too but I don’t know the specific artists as well.

How has attending Central and playing a sport impacted your life?

I would say playing a sport at Central has taught me how to balance a number of different things all at once. Balancing my academics, running, friends, family, and other hobbies is definitely a lot and overwhelming at points but also very rewarding. I am very thankful for all the relationships I have built and the memories that will last a lifetime.

Will Nebraska football ever be relevant again?

I think we are on the right track but it’s hard to say with any new coach. As much as I and everyone wanted Coach Frost to succeed, his style of play just wasn’t working in the Big Ten. I think Coach Rhule is a good developmental coach who will build a disciplined team who’s style of play is similar to 90s Nebraska football. I’m curious how that will look in today's game and if it will lead to wins.

What is the longest run you’ve ever gone on?

According to my garmin app, It was only 16.18 miles my sophomore year. I think my long runs have changed a bit to be more focused on quality instead of quantity since then.

Favorite sport that isn’t a race?

Golf

What’s it like to compete for Coach Dunham?

It’s been great being able to compete for Coach Dunham. I think running and racing is similar to a lot of other sports in that you are going to have good days but also bad days. I cherish a lot of moments with Coach Dunham on the good days and look back on the bad days and know I have learned a lot from those experiences too. Hopefully I can use the good and bad experiences to be better prepared for challenges in the future, whether it be in running or in life.

What’s your favorite part about being a member of Central track and field?

I think just being on a team with so many people trying to excel at different events is one of the coolest parts. We make sure to support one another and cheer each other on during our practices and competitions.

What do you hope to be doing 10 years from now?

I hope to settle down somewhere near my hometown and farm with my Dad and brothers.
