Class of 2024
Why did you chose Central?
I chose Central because it was a place where I could become the best version of myself while balancing academics and athletics. Everyone here seems to be very connected and it feels like this is my home away from home. I also wanted to be part of the great wrestling tradition that Central has created.
Favorite professor and why?
My favorite professor is Shelley Bradfield. She really cares about her students and always makes sure they are engaged and keeping up with the workload classes create. She is very understanding and works very hard to create a great environment in her classroom.
You’re majoring in Business Management because?Â
Business Management with a Communication minor. I like creating relationships with people and taking on challenges. I believe there will be lots of opportunities for me to find something I’m interested in with a business management degree and communications minor.
Besides athletics, what else are you involved in on campus?
Student Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) and Campus Ministries,
Who are your go-to musical artists?
My favorite artist is George Strait or Johnny Cash
How has attending Central and playing a sport impacted your life?
Central allowed me to get a good education while still competing in wrestling. It’s taught me many life lessons, including time management and work ethic. It’s also allowed me to create relationships with my teammates and other sports teams around campus.
What is your go to movie theater snack/drink combo?
Nothing beats popcorn mixed with m&ms, twizzlers, and skittles. For a drink I’ll go with Arnold Palmer tea.
What is the best prank you have ever done?
Unfortunately I’m on the wrong end of the pranks most of the time. Rheiner Stahlbaum and Jason Hermann definitely are the best at pranks. Last year they broke into my dorm room and shot off confetti cans in my room. I was still finding confetti until the day I moved out.
Food you can’t wait to eat as much as you want after wrestling season is over?
I can’t wait until I get to enjoy fresh cookie Tuesday’s. I made a promise to myself this year that I won’t eat them until wrestling is over and I’m keeping my word.Â
Favorite TV Show?
Family Feud ? Steve Harvey is the man.
What’s it like to compete for Coach Van Kley?
It’s easy to compete for a guy who gives so much to the wrestling program. He definitely is a guy I’m willing to go out there and compete for because of all the work he does behind the scenes, not only for wrestling but in young men’s lives as well.
What’s your favorite part about being a member of Central wrestling?
The relationships I’ve created with previous and current teammates. I can always count on them when I need them and I’ve created memories with them that will last a lifetime.
What do you hope to be doing 10 years from now?
I hope I found a career that I enjoy doing and hopefully I have time to coach wrestling one day. I’d love to give back to the sport that has offered me a lot of lessons throughout the years.
Favorite food from Central Market
I don’t think anything beats the brisket quesadilla or their breakfast omelets.
Bucket list
would like to attend the World Series the next time the Cubs are in it. Hopefully I won’t have to wait over 100 years like the last time they won it!
