Why did you choose Central?

I chose Central because it allowed me to pursue both tennis and music while majoring in Computer Science and Music. Plus, I really liked the professors when I met them on my visit. Every professor does a really good job.

Favorite professor and why?

Asking me to pick my favorite professor is very difficult because I have many that I like. However, one of my favorites is Professor Babcock. He is my organ, composition, music, and choir professor, so I have spent a lot of time with him. He is extremely kind, friendly, and a genius. He’s probably the best organist you can find in the whole state and an amazing teacher who pushes you to be better.

You’re majoring in Computer Science and Music because?

I'm majoring in Computer Science and Music because I enjoy programming. Building something and seeing it come to life is very satisfying. Plus, after college, it has the potential to make me some money. :) I chose music because it’s one of my greatest passions. I love playing instruments, composing, and getting a deeper understanding of music theory.

Besides athletics, what else are you involved in on campus?

I’m very involved in the music program. I currently play the organ, piano, and guitar, and I sing. I’m also part of the a cappella choir, intramurals, and pickleball club (but only when they have tournaments—I might skip the practices, oops).

Who are your go-to musical artists?

I have many favorite music artists. Some of my favorites are Cage the Elephant, Backseat Lovers, and Radiohead. But if you're asking about composers, it would be Claude Debussy, and I recently discovered Takashi Yoshimatsu.

How has attending Central and playing a sport impacted your life?

Attending Central and playing a sport has definitely impacted my life. It encourages a healthier lifestyle. I now play tennis and work out most of the year and eat healthier. On top of that, it has helped me develop much better time management skills.

Best part about having a twin?

The best part about having a twin is usually gaslighting people into thinking your twin is actually you— just kidding. The real best part is always having a best friend who will always be there for you and shares similar interests. We go crazy in Marvel Rivals.

Favorite professional tennis player?

My favorite professional tennis player has to be Nick Kyrgios. He’s just so entertaining to watch on the court. He isn’t the best sport, but that’s what makes him the best to watch. His anger, banter, entertaining personality, Pokémon tattoos, and unique tennis skills, like abusing the underhand serve.

All-time favorite Disney movie?

If we’re talking OG Disney movies, I’d have to go with Beauty and the Beast just because I really like Gaston (he did nothing wrong). But if we include everything Disney has made, I’d have to go with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1.

Favorite sport besides tennis?

My favorite sport besides tennis has to be pickleball—just because it translates so easily from tennis, so I was pretty good at it when I started. But if we exclude that, I’d say basketball. I grew up playing on a travel team, and it was really fun… I just suck at it.

Favorite TV show?

My favorite TV show, at least right now, has to be Invincible. It’s on Amazon Prime—you should watch it.

What’s it like to compete for Coach Ferrell?

I would say it’s tough. While he’s really fun to talk to and very understanding of your time, during tennis practices and matches, he expects you to work your hardest, listen, play a specific way, and control your emotions, which I find pretty hard to do in tennis sometimes.

What’s your favorite part about being a member of the Central men’s tennis team?

My favorite part is probably the friends I’ve made from the team. While tennis itself is really fun, I’ve made some (hopefully) lifelong friendships.

What do you hope to be doing 10 years from now?

I’m not sure—I don’t really have a plan for the next 10 years. All I hope for is to be happy.

Favorite food from Central Market?

My favorite food from Central Market would probably have to be cook to order pancakes or cook to order fried rice. Honestly, anything cooked to order is really good.

Bucket list:
        • Start a band
        • Write an album
        • Try Japanese Wagyu steak
        • Code a video game
        • Play tennis on gras
