Why did you choose Central?
I chose Central because of the atmosphere. Everyone– and everything about the campus made me feel like I was right where I belong. It was the school that I envisioned myself being the happiest at.
Favorite professor and why?
My favorite professor is Dr. Shuger Fox. She brings so much energy and passion to class each day, you can tell she really knows her stuff and loves what she does. I could listen to her lecture about nutrition or longevity for hours!
You’re majoring in Kinesiology because?
I’m majoring in Kinesiology because I tore my ACL my sophomore year at Central which led me to an interest in the human body and rehabilitation. I made the switch from Elementary Education, so it was a bit of an adjustment!
Besides athletics, what else are you involved in on campus?
I am a writing, kinesiology, resume, and study skills tutor.
Who are your go-to musical artists?
Noah Kahan is always my #1! I don’t relate to any of his songs whatsoever, but they’re catchy and make me want to move to Vermont! After him, I’ll listen to anything pop-folk.
How has attending Central and playing a sport impacted your life?
Running track at Central has taught me a lot about myself; I have had to overcome many physical and mental struggles to get where I am as an athlete, and through those struggles, I have learned that I can handle anything life throws at me. It has also brought me some of my closest friends/running buddies.
Strangest thing you’ve ever eaten?
Chocolate-dipped crickets… at a friend’s “Fear Factor” themed birthday party in elementary school.
Best concert you’ve ever been to?
Chris Stapleton at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.
What’s your guilty pleasure snack/drink?
The gluten-free Sweet Street brownies. I’m not gluten-free, but for those things, I am.
Are you a morning person or a night owl? Why?
I’d like to be more of a morning person, but homework/studying makes me a night owl.
Favorite TV Show
“This Is Us”. It has a super nostalgic feel to it and always leaves you on the edge of your seat!
What’s it like to compete for Coach Sturman?
Coach Sturman is fun to be coached by because he always has ambitious goals in mind for us. He believes in every single one of his athletes on a level that makes you feel like a valuable piece of the team, no matter how many points you score at a meet.
What’s your favorite part about being a member of the Central women’s track and field team?
My favorite part about being on the Central women’s track and field team is being able to watch my teammates succeed in their events, knowing how much hard work they have put into this sport. They inspire me to train to my full potential.
What do you hope to be doing 10 years from now?
In 10 years, I hope to be a successful Occupational Therapist somewhere pretty with a house, a dog, and a husband. Hopefully I’ll still be a runner!
Favorite food from Central Market
I’d have to say the Lemon Greek yogurt.
