Annie Swaters
Deepwater, Mo.
Class of 2023
Why did you chose Central?
Mainly to play basketball, but to be able to get a high-quality education at the same time, and everyone was so nice and welcoming.
Favorite professor and why?
This is tough because I like all my professors, but I would have to pick Professor Jon Witt. I have had classes with him since my freshman year which I have always enjoyed.
You’re majoring in sociology because?Â
I am majoring in Sociology, I initially did it because I really liked the classes and was thinking about doing something with law enforcement, but now it is more for being able to get into the helping field and having the knowledge of how people interact with others in different groups and settings, which will be helpful for my future career.
Besides athletics, what else are you involved in on campus?
I’m not really involved with anything else on campus other than sports, it keeps me pretty busy along with classes.
Who are your go-to musical artists?
There are too many to pick from but for sure Taylor Swift, Flatland Cavalry, and Pitbull
How has attending Central and playing a sport impacted your life?
It has allowed me to meet some of my forever best friends as well as challenging/pushing me to grow in so many other aspects
What is something you have always wanted to try but are too scared to?
Eggnog, I have always wanted to try it, but something about it grosses me out and seems scary.
Favorite road trip you have ever gone on?
              Â
A surprise road trip to Branson with my sister and her best friend for her 18th birthday.
What's the ultimate condiment?
              Â
That’s a tough one but I think I would have to go with ranch
Favorite TV Show
That’s a tough one, I would say New Girl because it is hilarious and chaotic and you can watch it over and over and it’s still just as good as the first time, but also, I love Stranger Things, it is one of the best tv shows I have watched in a long time and is so suspenseful. So, I think it is a tie between those two.
What’s it like to play for Coach Lonning?
It is awesome! High energy, high intensity, and a lot of fun. Her energy is unmatched, and she pushes us all to be the best players and people that we can be, she truly cares about us all in each of our individual differences.
What’s your favorite part about being a member of Central basketball?
The lifelong friends and connections with teammates I have made throughout these last four years and all of the memories we have made together. It has been like having a second family here at Central.
What do you hope to be doing 10 years from now?
That seems like a long time from now, I haven’t got a solid plan in 10 years but hopefully working with a sports team as a sports psychologist, living somewhere close to my sister and maybe have a dog, a cat and some cows or something like that.
