Why did you choose Central?
I first came to Central my sophomore year of high school for track clinics and grew to have a great relationship with Coach Walz and Coach Dunham which definitely sparked my interest in coming here. After coming to campus for a visit and meeting with professors, I knew that this was a great fit for me.
Favorite professor and why?
I have so many professors that I have connected with, but I’d have to say my favorite is Dr. Anya Butt. She is one of the most caring professors and truly makes a point to connect with her students and bring forth information in a way that is interesting. She is the main reason that I picked up my Environmental Studies minor after taking my first class with her!
You’re majoring in Mathematics because?
I’m majoring in Mathematics because I always loved it in high school and I like that there are usually multiple ways to find a solution. The professors in the math department are all so fun to learn from, so I’ve never had a regret with my choice.
Besides athletics, what else are you involved in on campus?
I am involved with OLAS and I have been a Peer Instructor for ICS with Eric Jones for the last 3 years. I also am involved with hanging out with my roommate Emily Hay and listening to her talk about how we should go get half-price apps every week.
Who are your go-to musical artists?
Some of my favorite artists include Kacey Musgraves, Ray LaMontagne, Harry Styles, and Lady Gaga.
How has attending Central and playing a sport impacted your life?
Coming to Central and being on the Track & Field team has definitely helped me to become more confident in my academic and athletic abilities. I’ve met some of my best friends here and I’m so thankful to have had the chance to do so.
What’s the best prank you have ever pulled and who was it on?
I don’t usually pull pranks, but I’m usually the one getting pranked because I’m the most gullible person I know. I usually just pop out and scare people if that counts as a prank...
Teammate who would be most likely to win on “Dancing with the Stars”
We recently had a post-practice dance party in the fieldhouse, and I can’t realistically say that any of the throwers would win. Overall, I’d say that either Mary Gray or Jon Bossou. They’ve got it goin’ on.
If you could master one skill that you don’t have right now, what would it be and why?
I really want to be able to ride a skateboard or rollerblade. I hate walking to class and feel like this would definitely make my days easier.
Favorite TV Show
Both of my favorite TV shows are Netflix originals, but I’d have to say Stranger Things and Dead to Me.
What’s it like to compete for Coach Sturman?
I think I can speak for the whole track team when I say it’s hard not to like Sturm. He’s so supportive and real with his athletes, which I think is a very great combination of qualities in a coach. I know I could go to him with any problem I’m having and he would talk through it with me. He can also grow a pretty cool beard.
What’s your favorite part about being a member of the Central women’s track and field team?
I’d say I enjoy being a part of the cohesive Central Track & Field team the most because of how many supportive teammates you have around you. The really fun thing about track & field is that we practice with guys and girls together and create this big, weird family. We know how to have a good time off of the track, but when it comes to reps or meets, we know when to get down to business.
What do you hope to be doing 10 years from now?
I barely know what I’m doing tomorrow, so this answer is not an easy one to think of. Hopefully I’ll be living somewhere, with someone, maybe a dog or two, maybe a kid or two. Who knows? All I know is that I’ll finally have my own Disney+ account.
