PELLA—Maison Brandt (sophomore, Bryon, Ill.) of the Central College men's golf team was named a Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar by the Golf Coaches Association of America for the first time in his career Monday.
           
To be eligible for selection, an NCAA Division III player must be a sophomore, junior or senior, participate in at least half of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 79.0 and a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher.
           
There were 261 players from 95 Division III schools cited.
           
Brandt graduated with a 3.65 GPA with a business management major. Brandt finished the season with a 77.77 stroke average and three top 10 finishes in 11 tournaments. He placed 10th at the American Rivers Conference Championships at the end of the season.
           
It's the fifth time the Dutch have had a player receive the GCAA award in the past five years. Central players have been cited 43 times overall.
