PELLA — The Central College men's and women's wrestling teams and the schools men's and women's golf teams were all represented on the College Sports Communicator Division III Academic All-District teams released Tuesday.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have competed for their team at the conference championships and achieve a 3.50 or better cumulative grade point average.
Senior men's wrestler
Sam West (Burlington, Notre Dame HS) headlines the group. He qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships at 184 pounds, where he was named the NCAA Elite Scholar Athlete. Younger brother
Carter West (sophomore, Burlington, Notre Dame HS) also merited CSC Academic All-District distinction.
Women's wrestling was included for the first time and Esther Belzer and Madilyn Rowson were the first Dutch women's wrestlers honored.
Mickey Martens (junior, Villa Park, Ill., Willowbrook HS) secured the honor for the second time and was joined by
Allie Pfantz (sophomore, State Center, West Marshall HS) and
Chloe Sundet (sophomore, Urbandale, Waukee Northwest HS) of the women's golf team.
Sophomore men's golfers
Crew Klingner (sophomore, Williamsburg) and
Maison Brandt (sophomore, Byron, Ill.) round out the list.
