ANKENY — For the second time this fall, junior
Allie Pfantz (State Center, West Marshall HS) of the Central College women's golf team was the individual medalist at the Viking Shootout Tuesday.
Playing the par-71 course at Otter Creek Golf Course in Ankeny, Pfantz shot 73-74—147 to finish five over par. She was 10 strokes better than the second-place finisher. She finished the 36-hole tournament with 10 birdies.
The Dutch finished third as a team, finishing six strokes back of Park University's (Mo.) winning score of 321-329—650. Central had the best 18-hole round in the field Monday at 314 but struggled Tuesday to a final tally of 314-342—656.
Freshman
Jessie Lohman (Ames) had the first top 10 finish of her collegiate career, sharing sixth place at 78-84—162.
Teammates
Chloe Sundet (junior, Urbandale, Waukee Northwest HS) and
Autumn Hoftender (freshman, Orion, Ill.) tied for 16th place. Sundet carded a 79-93—172 with the varsity lineup while Hoftender played as an individual and scored 86-86—172.
Senior
Mickey Martens (senior, Villa Park, Ill., Willowbrook HS) was 19th (84-91—175) and
Emersyn Schultz (freshman, Ainsworth, Highland HS) was 23rd (87-95—182).
The Dutch head to Waterloo next Sunday through Tuesday for the American Rivers Conference Championships at Sunnyside Golf & Country Club.
