Dutch men kick off tennis season

Central and Cornell battle in flighted tournament

Box Score MOUNT VERNON— In its first action of the school year, the Central College men's tennis team won 12 singles matches in a flighted tournament against Cornell College Saturday.
           
In the Central Invitational, the Dutch and the Rams matched up in six singles flights and three doubles flights to get as many matches as possible. Bodi Kortz (freshman, Wormerveer, Netherlands), Gavin Jablonski (junior, Marshalltown) and Trey Hull (senior, Ottumwa) all went 2-0 in singles action. Kortz was in the top flight of singles, Jablonski in the second and Hull in the fourth.
           
In doubles, Central mustered just two wins. Kortz and Alex Slaymaker (junior, Geneseo, Ill.) got one in the top doubles flight while Jablonski and Hayden Sinclair (junior, Ames) got one in the second flight of doubles.
           
Central will see Cornell again this weekend as it plays in the Cornell Invitational next Sunday in Mount Vernon.
