Dutch women’s soccer squad lands a pair on scholar all-region list

Huizenga and Eighmy add another academic honor to their season total

PELLA — Setting a new program standard, the Central College women's soccer team had two athletes selected for the United Soccer Coaches Division III Scholar All-North/Central Region teams for the first time in school history.

Both Piper Eighmy (junior, forward, Birmingham, Ala., Briarwood Christian HS) and Bailey Huizenga (senior, defender, Colona, Ill., Geneseo HS) were tabbed for the second team.
In order to be eligible, a student-athlete must have a 3.40 or better cumulative grade point average, play in at least 75 percent of all games and be an elite player as supported by playing honors.

A biology and business management double major with a 4.00 GPA, Eighmy led the Dutch with eight goals and was an American Rivers All-Conference pick. Huizenga has a 3.99 GPA and was an all-conference honorable mention while studying kinesiology.

The Dutch finished 10-5-3 overall, and 3-3-2 in the American Rivers Conference.
