Central men's, women's teams repeat in receiving classroom honor

PELLA—Central College is among 102 colleges and universities with both its men's and women's soccer squads honored with the United Soccer Coaches College Team Academic Award.

It's the 13th consecutive year that the Dutch women's squad has earned the award and the 16th time overall. It's the 11th award for the Central men.

Teams must post a combined grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the 2022-23 academic year to qualify for the honor. Coach Garry Laidlaw's men's squad posted a 3.27 GPA while coach Mike Kobylinski's women's team was at 3.45.

Last fall each Dutch team had nine players named to the American Rivers Academic All-Conference squad.
