Central lands a pair on second team all-conference

PELLA — Outfielder Colton DeRocher (senior, Sioux City, East HS) and starting pitcher Mark Kenney (sophomore, Fennimore, Wis.) from the Central College baseball team were both selected to the Americans Rivers All-Conference second team Wednesday afternoon.

In 24 conference games, DeRocher hit .313 with 21 RBI. He also hit seven of his nine home runs during league play, the last of which made him the program's all-time home run leader with 25. He also led the Dutch with 31 hits, seven doubles and two sacrifice flies during the conference portion of the schedule.

Kenney made five starts during American Rivers games, earning a 2-3 record. He maintained a 2.80 ERA and 1.17 WHIP. He had a complete game shutout over the University of Dubuque on April 12, striking out six while allowing just four hits and one walk. He also earned a win against Nebraska Wesleyan University on March 30, throwing 8.1 innings while allowing just one earned run.

Central finished its season 16-23 overall and 10-14 in league play during coach Adam Carey's first season.
