ROCK ISLAND, ILLINOIS — With the qualifiers for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships set to be released Friday night, the Central College track and field team competed Wednesday and Thursday at two meets looking to solidify their spots

Most of the athletes competing went to the Augustana Midwest Twilight Qualifier while a handful went to the La Crosse Final Qualifier.

In La Crosse, Gunner Meyer (senior, Fairbank, Wapsie Valley HS) cleared the high jump bar at 6 feet, 8.25 inches to win. Though it's a new season-best, it's likely not enough to qualify for the NCAA meet.

At Augustana, Peyton Steffen (senior, Marion) finished third in the women's 1,500 meters in 4 minutes, 32.12 seconds. Olivia Bohlen (senior, Belle Plaine) was also third in the women's 100-meter hurdles (14.28 seconds).
           
In the women's 4x400-meter relay Ava Parkins (junior, Monmouth, Ill., Burlington Notre Dame [Iowa] HS), Alivia Roerdink (junior, Tiffin, Ohio, Hopewell-Loudon HS), Kennedy Petersen (freshman, Story City, Roland-Story HS) and Emily McMartin (senior, Pella) finished fourth in 3:47.31
           
Donovan Card (junior, Norwalk) ran the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:09.62, placing fourth.
