Dutch struggle in second round of A-R-C men’s golf tournament

Central falls to fourth on wet day

WEST DES MOINES — Poor weather caused a delay and poor scoring for the Central College men's golf team at the American Rivers Conference Championships in Monday's second round.

At the par-71 Glen Oaks Country Club, Central had the highest team score in the field Monday with a 328. Central fall from second to fourth place (296-328—624) and are 38 strokes back of the University of Dubuque 287-299—587.

"It was a tale of two days for us," coach Mel Blasi said. "We had some unfortunate breaks early in our round today and we never really recovered. Glen Oaks is a great golf course and the setup today was extremely difficult. It was tough to gain any momentum."

Carter Yurgae (sophomore, West Des Moines, Dowling Catholic HS) shot a 78 and is now in fourth place (69-78—147). Maison Brandt's (sophomore, Byron, Ill.) in seventh place after carding a 79 (71-79—150).

Blake Wynn (senior, Milan, Ill., Sherrard HS)
shot an 85 and is in 32nd place (77-85—162). Crew Klingner (sophomore, Williamsburg) shot an 86 and is in 39 th place (82-86--168). Lincoln Eighmy (junior, Carlisle) shot a 92 and is in 41st place (79-92--171).

The third and final round begins at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

"We will look to bounce back tomorrow," Blasi said. "We have a very resilient group and they've had a great year. We're excited to compete again."
