Hobart, Bohlen chosen as A-R-C Athletes of the Week

Central multis duo take league's top honors

PELLA — With the best decathlon and heptathlon scores in NCAA Division III this season, Kale Hobart (junior, Mason City) and Olivia Bohlen (senior, Belle Plaine) were named the American Rivers Conference Male and Female Athletes of the Week Monday.

Both Hobart and Bohlen won the Dutch Spring Multi hosted by Central last Wednesday and Thursday. They were also named the Field Events Performers of the Week as well.

Hobart's total of 7,580 points is the most in NCAA Division III history. Because of high winds, it will not be counted as an official NCAA Division III record but it does reset the Central College record set by Will Daniels in 2019. Bohlen also broke her own school record after finishing with 5,136 points.

Central's track and field team will send most of its athletes to the Viking Olympics hosted by Augustana College (Ill.) this weekend.
