CEDAR RAPIDS — The Central College men's wrestling team is staying close to home as three of its members compete at the NCAA Division III Championships in Cedar Rapids.
Cedar Rapids is the site of this year's championship meet, serving as host for the fifth time since 2013. The Dutch program has crowned two All-Americans in those years, C.J. Pestano in 2016 and Shandon Akeo in 2022, and is looking to increase that number this year.
Pierre Baldwin (senior, 141 pounds, Carol Stream, Ill., West Chicago HS) and
Cade Siebrecht (senior, Lisbon) are both the No. 6 seed in their weight classes while
Sam West (senior, Burlington, Notre Dame HS) is unseeded at 197 pounds.
Baldwin (27-2) is a returning All-American, finishing sixth in 2025. His resume includes wins over No. 7 seed Sean Conway (University of Chicago [Ill.]) and No. 9 seed Dresden Grimm (Coe College). His only losses have come against the No. 3 seed Kade Blume (Wartburg College) and Grimm. He qualified by finishing third at the Region VI Championships.
Baldwin opens with No. 11 Joshua Robison (18-5) of North Central College (Ill.). Robinson finished third at the Region V Championships.
Making his debut at the national meet, Siebrecht (25-1) boats five wins against other qualifiers. He defeated No. 10 Chase Fiser (Loras College) twice, including the regional final bout. He also has wins over No. 9 Maksim Mukhamedailyev (Chicago), unseeded Caleb Olson (Wartburg) and unseeded Riese Thornberry (University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point). His only loss was to the No. 2 seed Matt Randolph (Augsburg University) in the finals of the Augsburg Invitational.
Siebrecht opens with No. 11 Caleb Seyfried (22-2) of Williams College (Mass.). Seyfried finished second in his regional after medical forfeiting the final.
West is also making his national debut and has only faced two other qualifiers during the regular season, losing to No. 4 Cal Dorota (Wartburg) in the regional semifinals and to No. 7 seed Tyler Dormanen (University of Wisconsin – La Crosse).
West faces Nick Rogers (17-6) of Springfield College (Mass.) in a preliminary round bout with the winner moving on to face the No. 2 seed Josh Stahl (34-1) of York College (Pa.). Stahl's only loss of the season was to the No. 1 seed DJ Henry of The College of New Jersey in their regional final.
The first session of wrestling is Friday morning at 10 a.m. (EST).
