STORM LAKE — Central College sophomore women's golfer
Allie Pfantz (sophomore, State Center, West Marshall HS) garnered the first individual title of her collegiate golf career Sunday, clearing the field by three strikes at the Buena Vista Fall Invitational.
Playing two rounds of 18 holes Saturday and Sunday on the par-72 Buena Vista University Golf Course at Lake Creek Country Club, Pfantz carded a 77-78—155, three strokes in front of the runner-up entry. She shot an even par on the back nine Sunday, bolstered by three birdies.
As a team, Central shot 347-338—685 to place fifth out of 10 teams. Simpson College was the winner with a 331-335—666.
Mickey Martens (junior, Villa Park, Ill., Willowbrook HS) shot 86-88--174 and
Chloe Sundet (sophomore, Urbandale, Waukee Northwest HS) shot 91-83—174 as they tied for 20th overall.
Bella Keaveney (sophomore, Hubbard, South Hardin HS) carded a 96-89—185 to place 32nd and
Taylor Davis (Verona, Wis., Verona Area HS) finished 93-98—189 for 38th place.
The Dutch have two weeks to prepare for the American Rivers Conference Championships October 11-13 at Glynns Creek Golf Course in Long Grove, Iowa.
