PELLA—After establishing herself as one of Division III's top distance runners, Central College's Peyton Steffen (junior, Marion) was named the American Rivers Track Peformer of the Week for women's track and field.
           
Competing at the Washington-St. Louis (Mo.) University Distance Carnival in St. Louis Friday in a field that included 245 runners from all levels of the NCAA, Steffen was 11th in a career-best 16:53.39. That's the second-fastest time in Division III this spring and jumps her to third on Central's all-time leaderboard for the event.
           
Central sends most of its squad to the Wartburg Outdoor Select at Waverly Friday and Saturday.
