INDIANOLA — The Central College men's wrestling team had athletes finish atop three brackets at the Luther Hill Open hosted by Simpson College Saturday.
In the Open brackets,
Lincoln Holub (senior, Lisbon) won the 174-pound division. In the freshman/sophomore divisions
CJ Davis (freshman, West Burlington, Notre Dame HS) won at 125 pounds and
Jamal Neeway (freshman, Waukee, Northwest HS) was the 285-pound champon.
Holub went 4-0, punctuating his title with a 16-4 major decision against Jeremiah Nyberg of Graceland University.
Davis was 5-0, winning three times by fall and taking a 17-2 technical fall victory in the title bout. Neeway was 4-0, pinning two opponents and winning a 5-1 decision over Mason Harris of Benedictine College (Kan.) in his final match.
Other top-three finishers in the Open brackets included
Carter Cianfrogna (sophomore, Surprise, Ariz., Shadow Ridge HS) at 133 pounds (second),
Lukas Spaur (junior, Knoxville) at 141 pounds (third),
Bryson Spaulding (sophomore, Villa Park, Ill., IC Catholic Prep) at 149 pounds (third),
Kevin Hogan (senior, Monee, Peotone HS) at 165 pounds,
Curtis Schott (junior, Coggon, North Linn HS) at 165 pounds,
Nathan Rosas (senior, Harvard) at 184 pounds (third),
Justin Dallas (senior, Dixon, Ill.) at 197 pounds and
Kyler Hall (junior, Boones, Ames HS, 285 pounds) at 285 pounds (third)
Central travels to Lincoln, Nebraska for a 6 p.m. dual next Wednesday at Nebraska Wesleyan University.
