CEDAR FALLS— In her first collegiate tournament,
Amber Timmer (freshman, San Diego Calif., Mount Carmel), led the Dutch by shooting a 77 in the second round of the Kohawk Classic, at the par 72 Pheasant Ridge Golf Course.
Timmer finished 13th firing a 79-77—156, one shot behind teammate
Lydia Grond (senior, Hull, Boyden-Hull) who shot a 74-81—155 and finished in a tie for ninth place.
The Dutch as a team shot 305-323—628 finishing third out of 14 the team field. The squad was six strokes behind American Rivers Conference foe Dubuque but finished above four other teams from the conference.
"Today's conditions were tougher with the wind up and the course drying out," said coach
Tabitha Schumacher. "We left some strokes on the course, but it feels great to get the first tournament under our belt."
Parker Stout (senior, Lowden, North Cedar) finished tied for 14th place with a 73-84 —157 and
Allie Pfantz (freshman, State Center, West Marshall) also scored for the Dutch in her first tournament where she shot 79-81—160 in a tie for 20th place.
Jaden Smith (junior, Marengo, Iowa Valley) went 83-93 — 176.
Along with these scorers the squad brought a second team to gain experience, and they improved from yesterday and shot 351-349 — 700 finishing 13th.
The squad returns to competition on Saturday when they travel to Waverly and compete in the Wartburg Invitational.
