Biggs set to lead Dutch women’s golf team

Former Central player taking the reins of program

PELLA—One of the most decorated players in the Central College women's golf team's recent history, Mackenzie Biggs is stepping in as the program's newest head coach.

Biggs graduated from Central in May after earning four varsity letters with the Dutch. She earned American Rivers All-Conference honors four times with top-10 finishes at the league championships. In the fall of 2024, she spent time as an assistant coach and helped the Dutch to a runner-up finish at the conference meet.

"I'm grateful to be presented with this opportunity and continue being a part of the Central women's golf program," Biggs said. "This role will definitely be different than my previous experiences as a player and assistant coach, but I am eager to stretch myself and watch my players grow to their fullest potential."

She replaces Tabitha Schumacher who spent four and half years leading the program and won a conference title in 2022.

During her playing career, Biggs also was the team's Most Valuable Performer in 2021 and 2023. In 2022, she was a part of the conference championship squad that earned a spot at the NCAA Division III Championships.

"We're excited to have Mackenzie for this role," Vice President for Athletic Eric Van Kley said. "She would say she had a life-changing experience at Central College and she's eager to give those opportunities to our current and future women's golfers."

Biggs will formally start her role in January in advance of the team's spring season.
