Dutch men’s wrestling team enters national tournament team poll

LInahon up to No. 2 at 197 pounds

PELLA — The first regular season edition of the National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III rankings were released Tuesday and the Central College men's wrestling team debuted at No. 18 in the Tournament Team Rankings.

Individually, Gage Linahon (senior, Newton), moved up to No. 2 at 197 pounds and Pierre Baldwin (Carol Stream, Ill., West Chicago HS) Baldwin improved to No. 11 at 141 pounds.

The Tournament Team Rankings are not based on a team's dual strength, but rather calculated based on individual rankings.

Linahon is 12-1 this season, with his only loss coming in the Pointer Open final against a wrestler from NCAA Division II the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. Eleven of his 12 wins have been for bonus points, including four pins and three technical falls.

Baldwin is 13-1 this season, with his only loss coming in the Coe dual against No. 10 Dresden Grimm. Baldwin does have a victory over No. 14 Brad Rosen of North Central College (Ill.), defeating him 5-3 in the Pointer Open final.

The Dutch (4-1) travel to Rock Island, Illinois Thursday for an 8 p.m. dual with Augustana College. Central will continue to the Milwaukee School of Engineering Invitational Saturday in Wisconsin.
