Nationally ranked Wittenberg University (Ohio) leads with 286-284—570 on the University Club of Kentucky course.
"I'm really proud of the guys," coach
Mel Blasi said. "They worked hard over the summer. They were all pretty excited to get the season started."
Blasi said Dobernecker, Wendel and Briggs had especially promising rounds.
"Harold played well," Blasi said. "
Lucas Wendel has really improved and I thought
Matt Briggs was solid."
Blasi also is encouraged by the showing of Rogers as a freshman in his first collegiate tournament.
"He's going to be a really solid player," Blasi said.
