MARION, ILL.— Heavy rains forced cancellation of Tuesday's final round and the Central College men's golf team closed in second place at the John A. Logan Fall Invitational.
The Dutch carded 297-295—592 Monday at the par-71 Kokopeli Golf Club as the tourney was shortened from 54 to 36 holes. National junior college power Indian Hills won with 287-281—568 while host John A. Logan College was third at 301-292—593 and Fontbonne University (Mo.) followed at 302-311—613 in the nine-team tourney.
Central's
Harold Dobernecker (sophomore, Nevada) tied for fifth in the medalist standings at 73-70—145. Birgir Magnusson, an at-large entrant from Southern Illinois University, took first with 70-67—137.
The Dutch are off until the Central Fall Invitational Oct. 4-5 at the Finkbine Golf Course in Iowa City.
