Why did you chose Central?

I initially chose Central with athletics in mind.  I wanted to pursue golf after high school and the Central College Women’s golf team was a perfect fit!  After visiting, I realized that Central has so much more to offer than a great athletic experience.  The professors are personal, the campus is beautiful, and Pella is such a great home-away-from home.    

Favorite professor and why?

My favorite professor would be Tuan Nguyen or Courtney Hoyt.  I had Professor Tuan for Microeconomics last year; he made the class fun and engaging, and he clearly conveyed every concept.  Professor Hoyt, in addition to being my advisor, taught my first accounting class at Central.  Her teaching solidified my decision to pursue an accounting major. 

You’re majoring in accounting because?

I am majoring in accounting because I loved math growing up, and as I was pursuing degrees, I knew I wanted to do something business related.  My accounting major at Central was an easy decision because it was the perfect match for my personality and Central offers amazing accounting professors.

Besides athletics, what else are you involved in on campus?

I work in the Registrar’s office and beginning this fall I will be an SI.  I also enjoy attending FCA on Tuesday nights.

Who are your go-to musical artists?

My favorite artist, hands down, is Eric Church.  I also enjoy anything from Harry Connick Jr. and Frank Sinatra to Stevie Wonder and Jim Croce. 

How has attending Central and playing a sport impacted your life?

Above all, being a student-athlete has improved my time management skills.  It is not always an easy task to balance academics while participating in sports at the collegiate level.  The professors at Central are very understanding of athletes’ busy schedules and are willing to work with you if you have to miss a class for a tournament.

What course anywhere in the world do you want to play?

Every golfer’s dream, Augusta National.

What club do you trust the most?

I absolutely love my gap wedge.  I hit it pure almost every time. 

What’s your favorite sport to play besides golf?

Pickleball.

If you could live in one Disney movie, what would you choose?

I would say the Parent Trap, it’s one of my favorite movies and I would love to live in London. 

Favorite TV Show

I absolutely love Full Swing because the series follows the lives of some of my favorite professional golfers. 

What’s it like to play for Coach Biggs?

Coach Biggs is great!  She always brings a positive attitude and she is supportive of her players on and off the course. 

What’s your favorite part about being a member of Central golf?

I love my teammates!  The past year has been so much fun growing closer as a team and competing alongside a great group of girls.  Besides, playing a tough round at Bos is a lot more enjoyable with friends. 

What do you hope to be doing 10 years from now?

Ideally in 10 years I plan to be married with a family.  I hope to be working as a CPA, living on a golf course, and playing golf as often as I can.

Fresh Cookie Tuesday is always a highlight of my week.

Bucket list

To visit Italy, specifically Rome.  I’d love to see all the incredible architecture, famous artwork, and of course, enjoy all the delicious food. :)
