Why did you choose Central?
A big part of why I choose Central was to be close to family. Central also has one of the best Softball and Athletic Training programs in the nation, and to get the opportunity to be in both is extraordinary.
Favorite professor and why?
My favorite professor would have to be Liz Vermeer. She pushes us to be better Athletic Trainer or Physical Therapists. The techniques we learn in class will be used for the rest of our lives and also brainstorming more to put in our toolbox.
Who are your go-to musical artists?
Personally, I don’t have a favorite artist. Depending on my mood I can listen to anything from rap, hip-hop, pop, rock, to country.
You’re majoring in Athletic Training because?
I am majoring in Athletic Training because as an athlete, the one thing that is most gut wrenching is not being able to play the game you love because of an injury. As an Athletic Trainer I can prevent, educate and rehabilitate athletes on injuries, and get them back as quickly and healthy as possible.
What animal best represents you and why?
I would say a jellyfish. I am soft, gentle and go with the flow, but when in danger I will do what I must to protect others and myself, otherwise I will just sting because I am hungry.
If you could bring one musician back from the dead, who would be and why?
Johnny Cash. He made influential music and if he was back, would have brought us more.
What’s your greatest achievement (to date), and how has it shaped you?
My greatest achievement would be choosing Central College. I have been able to play two sports I love, as well as, preparing myself for my future career. The friends I have made here will last a lifetime and the connections I have gained by being a part of two incredible programs are endless.
What would you name your boat if you had one?
I would name my boat Maybe Next Time. Any time I go fishing nothing bites or they do but I lose it and when I really feel like I have something my hook is snagged.
What’s your number one pet peeve?
Slamming car doors. I don’t know why, but I cringe every time it happens.
What is the most important Central Softball tradition to you?
High Hopes before every game. It is just a little reminder that we need to have fun when we play just as if we were little kids.
Favorite TV Show
Grey’s Anatomy.
What’s one thing people might not know about Coach Wares?
He secretly likes arguing with the umpires.
What’s your favorite part about being a member of Central Softball?
Central Softball teaches us players that it is more than a game and it is something bigger than you and I. Our team consistently stays connected with all past players and learns that some struggles or accomplishments we face have most likely happened before. Also, we get to learn more about ourselves and push ourselves further than we thought we could. This game and the coaching staff we have show us that we have a privilege to play and will not take it for granted.
“Ten years from now I’ll...”
Be coming home from work as an Athletic Trainer for a High School to a couple kids, my dog and pet pig. I will be staying in touch with all my former teammates from softball who will most likely all be married, and I’ll probably still be waiting for a ring…
