Why did you chose Central?

I chose Central because it felt like an extension of home for me. My aunt and uncle met here, my cousin came here and had a great experience, so that was something I really wanted to be a part of. The Education Program was also a huge factor for me, alongside being able to continue playing tennis. Overall, it was the perfect fit for me, and I’ve loved getting to grow here!

Favorite professor and why?

All my professors have been so impactful during my time at Central, and I’ve had nothing but great experiences. Right now, I have the privilege of taking a class with Professor Durflinger - she makes learning fun and engaging to the point where I really look forward to going to class. I always know I’m going to learn something that I can take into my classroom, and I really feel like I am actively preparing to be a better teacher in that class!

You’re majoring in Elementary Education because?

For the money. Just kidding. I’m majoring in elementary education because I think this is the job where I can really make a difference around me. Teaching has always been something that I am passionate about, and I’ve always believed that education is so vital for our young people. I think it is so important that kids have a teacher that uplifts them not only as students but ultimately as people. I chose Elementary Education because I want to be a positive influence in my students' lives and encourage them to be the best that they can be.

Besides athletics, what else are you involved in on campus?

I’m involved in Student Senate, Programming Board, SAAC, and working in Sports Information!

Who are your go-to musical artists?

My go-to music artists have to be SZA, The Lumineers, Florence and the Machine, Lauren Daigle, and Don Toliver.

How has attending Central and playing a sport impacted your life?

Attending Central and playing a sport has helped me grow as a person, student, and athlete. I’ve learned a lot about how to balance and manage my time. I’ve learned to not take things so seriously but also give a hundred percent to what I’m doing. I’ve learned to enjoy the moment and really embrace every second because we only get such a short time here. So, it's really taught me to make the most out of every little moment!

Rank your favorite Kansas City sports teams in order.

Easy in first place: The Chiefs, then The Royals, KC Current, and then Sporting KC!

Where can you find the best Kansas City barbecue?

You have to go to Jack Stack Barbeque, not even a competition.

Teammate you believe could win on the tv show Survivor?

Lauren Gano, she just would I can’t explain it.

Where is your dream vacation spot?

Grand Teton Nation Park, Wyoming.

Favorite TV Show

Ted Lasso

What’s it like to play for Coach Ferrell?

A blast. It’s nice to have a Coach who has your back and ultimately just wants the best for you. He’s our biggest cheerleader and pushes us to be the best that we can be. He believes in all of us not only as tennis players but as people, which I think is really special.

What’s your favorite part about being a member of Central women’s tennis team?

The friendships. I’ve made some lifelong friends through this sport, and each friendship I’ve made is so special and truly is something that I’ll cherish long after I graduate.

What do you hope to be doing 10 years from now?

I hope to be retired. Just kidding – I hope to be teaching, coaching tennis, and living a life that serves Jesus!
