PELLA — An efficient offensive performance by the Central College volleyball team netted a sweep against St. Catherine University (Minn.) Friday night in the first game of the Central-Grinnell Invitational.
The Dutch (1-1) earned their first win with a scoreline of 25-21, 25-19, 25-15.
Central was credited with a .440 hitting percentage after notching 44 kills against just seven errors. No Dutch player reached double figures in kills, but five players had at least seven. Middle hitter
Kaitlyn Mumm (senior, Waukee, Des Moines Christian HS had nine kills on just 13 swings to lead the team.
The two Dutch setters,
Grace Corey (sophomore, Watertown, S.D.) and
Landry Pacha (senior, Wellman, Mid-Prairie HS), each tallied 16 assists.
The Dutch had six total blocks, highlighted by a pair of solo efforts from

Central has two more home matches Saturday, playing College of Saint Benedict (Minn.) at 1 p.m. and Cornell at 3 p.m.
