CARLINVILLE, ILLINOIS — Controlling the game from start to finish, the Central College men's soccer team won 6-0 against Blackburn University (Ill.) Saturday afternoon.
The Dutch (3-2-1) did not allow the Battlin' Beavers (2-5-1) to take a single shot attempt over 90 minutes whereas the Dutch recorded 23 shots and 14 shots on goal.
Isaiah Guyton (sophomore, Davenport, Bettendorf HS) put Central on the board in the 22nd minute, set up for his third goal of the season by assists from
Lucas De la Cuba (freshman, Lima, Peru, Ankeny Centennial [Iowa] HS) and
Anthony Davis (freshman, Albertville, St. Michael-Albertville HS). Nate Lampe (junior, Newton) scored the first of his two goals in the 33rd minute, taking an assist from
Teddy Apostolopoulos (junior, Pella).
Lampe tallied an unassisted goal in the 51st minute for his third goal of the season.
Nick DeVoss (sophomore, Lee's Summit, Mo., St. Michael HS) also tallied his third goal of the season in the 54th, as Davis and Apostolopoulos had their second assists.
Jackson Horst (sophomore, Parkville, Mo., St. Pius X) and
Will Dybvig (freshman, Cedar Rapids, Xaiver HS) scored their first goals of the season in the 81st and 87th minute, respectively.
Josh Wilson (senior, Altoona, Southeast Polk HS) assisted Horst.
A long break awaits the Dutch, who don't play their next match until Friday, October 2 in Duluth, Minnesota against the College of Saint Scholastica.
