Steffen wins conference women’s steeplechase

Dutch sitting in second place

PELLA — The reigning MVP of the American Rivers Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Peyton Steffen (senior, Marion) started her weekend with an individual title in the 3,000-meter steeplechase Friday afternoon.

The Dutch have 44 points and are in second place.

Steffen repeated as the steeplechase champion in a time of 10 minutes, 45.60 seconds. Freshman Addie Doughan (freshman, Clear Lake) added a point by finishing eighth (11:43.37)

The 4x800-meter relay unit of Alivia Roerdink (junior, Tiffin, Ohio, Hopewell Loudon HS, Kelly Duffy (junior, Breckenridge, Colo., Summit HS), Maddy Stevens (Grimes, Dallas Center-Grimes HS) and Kyra Cordes (Marion) finished second in 9:09.86. The time breaks a school record set in 1981.

Long jumper Karlee Warnke (junior, Primghar, South O'Brien HS) also secured a runner-up finish, leaping 18-3.75. Jasmyn Williams (senior, Denver, Colo., Arvada West HS) was seventh in the event after jumping 17-7.

Annika Kruse (senior, Solon) was fourth in the 10,000-meter run (38:21.05). Olivia Bohlen (senior, Belle Plaine) and Ramey Dahlquist (sophomore, Janesville, Waverly-Shell Rock HS) shared sixth place in the high jump (5-0.5). Shayla Greeley (freshman, Riceville) was sixth in the heptathlon (4,033 points) and Sage Austin (junior, Carlisle) was seventh (4,008 points).
