LIMA, PERU — The 2026 NCAA Division III women's 3,000-meter steeplechase runner-up,
Peyton Steffen (Marion) will represent both Central College and the United States of America at the FISU America Games August 1 in Lima, Peru.
Sanctioned by the International University Sports Federation (FISU), the America Games are held in even numbered-years for countries in North America, Central America, South America and the Caribbean. Competition is spread across 14 different sport disciplines.
University of Iowa assistant track and field coach Jason Wakenight is leading the American contingent.
Steffen will run the 3,00-meter steeplechase during the final session of track and field on Saturday, August 1.
Central was last represented at the FISU America Games by 2018 graduate Mark Fairley who ran the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase at the 2018 edition in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
