PELLA — For the second weekend in a row, the Central College track and field team's hosted a meet with the Dutch Weather Saver 2.0 Invitational Thursday night after expected poor weekend weather forced a change in schedule.
Team scores were not kept.
Ava Parkins (junior, Monmouth, Ill., Burlington Notre Dame [Iowa] HS) swept the women's 100 and 200-meter dashes. Her time of 24.78 in the 200 is up to No. 28 nationally and her time of 12.15 in the 100 is No. 44 nationally.
Parkins also anchored the winning 4x400-meter relay team to finish in 3:50.03, the No. 7 time in Division III. She was joined by
Emily McMartin (senior, Pella),
Alivia Roerdink (junior, Tiffin, Ohio, Hopewell-Loudon HS) and
Kennedy Petersen (freshman, Story City, Roland-Story HS). Roerdink also won the 400-meter dash in 56.37 seconds.
Men's long jumper
Owen Tomko (junior, Costa Mesa, Calif., Fountain Valley HS) reached 23 feet, 0.5 inches to win and move up to No. 35 nationally.
Gunner Meyer (senior, Fairbank, Wapsie Valley HS) had another strong run in the men's 110-meter hurdles, winning by over a second with a time of 13.79 seconds.
Central will be at the Drake Relays and Kip Janvrin Open next week.
