DAYTONA BEACH, FLORIDA — At last weekend's National Dance Alliance/National Cheerleaders Association College Nationals, the Central College cheerleading squad finished fifth in the NCAA Division III Spirit Rally category.

Central finished with a score of 77.4750 while Alma College (Mich.) was the winner after tabulating a 92.8250.

The Dutch improved tremendously in the final round increasing their score by nearly five points. After scoring 73.80 in the preliminary round, Central was awarded 78.70 in the finals.

Central just missed eclipsing the fourth-place team from Tufts University (Mass.), finishing .20 points behind in the finals. The Dutch scored higher than the Jumbos in almost every aspect but lost on skill incorporation due to the smaller size of Central's team.
