Central secures two top-three finishes at A-R-C Competitive Cheer Invitational

Freshman Duncan chosen for second team all-conference

PELLA — For the fourth year in a row, the Central College dance team won the American Rivers Conference Championship, this time doing so on its home court.
           
P.H. Kuyper Gymnasium was the site of Sunday's A-R-C Cheer and Dance Championships. In the A-R-C Competitive Cheer Invitational, Central was second in the 2.5 Minute Routine and third in Game Day. The Dutch were the only team to compete in both categories. Freshman Brooklyn Duncan (Macomb, Ill.) was tabbed as second team all-conference.

Central's dance program won the pom, jazz and hip-hop divisions to cruise to the overall title. The Dutch have won all four titles since the sport was elevated to be an official league championship sport.
           
Individually, Chayse Gilchrist (junior, Fairfield), MeLayna Budinich (sophomore, Newton) and Jada Nelson (freshman, Clear Lake) were recognized as first team all-conference performers.
          
Central will compete in the NDA/NCA (National Dance Alliance/National Cheerleaders Association College Nationals in Daytona Beach, Florida April 8-11.
