Tryouts for 2025/2026 academic year: Saturday, April 26, Kuyper Athletic Complex
General Information & Expectations
The Central College Cheerleading Team is a co-ed program that represents Central College at all home football games, select away games, home men’s and women’s basketball games, campus events, and more. The team competes at the American Rivers Conference Cheer & Dance Invitational and at the NCA College Nationals in Daytona Beach, Florida. They also represent Central at other non-athletic functions they are asked to attend such as alumni events, pep rallies, youth cheer clinic and campus, and community public appearances.
Being part of the Central College Cheer Team is a full year commitment cheering for both football and basketball, and a chance to be part of the competition team. All members must be enrolled as a full-time student with a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester while maintaining a GPA of 2.0 or higher.Â
Selection & Tryouts Process
Our cheer year begins in the spring. Tryouts for the upcoming school year traditionally take place at the end of April.
All candidates will be evaluated on cheers, crowd leading abilities/appearance, tumbling, jumps, and stunting. The coach looks for candidates who are coachable, can be flexible with who they work with, and take corrections in an approachable manner from both coach and captains.
- Tumbling is not a requirement, but is highly encouraged.
- Stunting has no set requirements, but you are expected to work hard at improving your skills.
- Virtual Tryouts; we do accept video submissions if you are unable to make it in-person. Please contact Coach Megan for video submission requirements, bouskam@central.edu
