PELLA — The doubles point once again made the difference for the Central College men's tennis team in a 4-3 win over Nebraska Wesleyan University Wednesday.
Central (3-12, 2-0 American Rivers Conference) tallied the critical doubles point with wins in No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.
Bodi Kortz (freshman, Wormerveer, Netherlands/St. Michael College) and
Alex Slaymaker (Junior, Geneseo, Ill.) won 6-4 at the top of the lineup while
Ernest Alvarez Chedzoy (freshman, Kerrville, Texas, Tivy HS and
Gavin Jablonski (junior, Marshalltown) won 7-5 in the second spot.
Kortz cruised in his No. 1 singles match 6-1, 6-1.
Slaymaker battled to a 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 victory at No. 2 singles while
Francisco Molina Centeno (freshman, Mexico City, Mexico, Centro Educativo Jean Piaget) also needed an extra set before winning 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the No.5 spot to help clinch the team win.
Central travels to Luther College for a 4 p.m. match Friday.
