Central’s track and field teams start outdoor season at No. 19 in national rankings

Dutch have five athletes with top-three national marks

NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA — In the first USTFCCCCA Outdoor Checkpoint of the season, both of Central College's track and field teams are rated No. 19 in Division III

Points in the National Team Rating Index are based off placement in the National Descending Order Lists. The higher an athlete sits on the top-50 list, the more points he or she adds to his or her team's total. These points do not reflect placement or scoring at the NCAA Championships but are to show the individuals and teams that have the best chances at scoring well at said meet.

The Dutch men are led by three entries in the top five nationally. Gunner Meyer (senior, Fairbank, Wapsie Valley HS) has the best 110-meter hurdles time in the country at 13.71 seconds. Jack Brown (junior, Norwalk) is No. 2 in the 1,500 meters (3:46.15) and Lance Bunde (sophomore, Guthrie Center, ACGC HS) shares the No. 3 spot in the high jump (6 feet, 9 inches).

On the women's side, Central has two individuals at No. 3 in their events. Peyton Steffen (senior, Marion) clocked in at 16:36.76 in the 5,000 meters and Karlee Warnke's (junior, Primghar, South O'Brien HS) long jump measured at 17-11.25
