BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA —
Olivia Bohlen (senior, Belle Plaine) became a three-time All-American in the pentathlon while the Central College women's distance medley relay team took fifth at the 2026 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championship Friday.
Bohlen finished on the pentathlon podium for the third year in a row, taking third place in her career-best finish, She set new personal-bests in the high jump (5 feet, 4.5 inches) and 800-meter run (2 minutes, 22.76 seconds) while matching her indoor long jump best (17-10.75).
The women's distance medley relay team of
Maddy Stevens (freshman, Grimes, Dallas Center-Grimes HS), Olivia Phillips (freshman, St. Charles, Iowa, Interstate 35 HS), Kyra Cordes (freshman, Marion) and
Peyton Steffen (senior, Marion) also earned a spot on the podium with a fifth-place finish in 11 minutes, 38.89 seconds. It's the second-fastest time in school history.
Jack Brown (junior, Norwalk) won the second heat of the mile preliminaries and is the top qualifier for Saturday's final. He completed the race in 4 minutes, 11.42 seconds.
In the men's 60-meter hurdles,
Gunner Meyer (senor, Fairbank, Wapsie Valley HS) is also the top qualifier after clocking in at 7.91 seconds in the third preliminary heat.
Through four events of the men's heptathlon,
Kale Hobart (junior, Mason City) is in second place with 2,953 points. He trails Jacob Balcome of the University of Wisconsin-River Falls by 86.
Also in the heptathlon,
Gavin Smith (senior, Audubon) is 15th with 2,662 points and
Gage Huyser (senior, Pella) is 17th with 2,623 points.
Central missed the final of the women's 4x400-meter relay by one spot, finishing ninth in a time of 3:48.91.
Alivia Roerdink (junior, Tiffin, Ohio, Hopewell-Loudon HS), Kennedy Petersen (freshman, Story City, Roland-Story HS), Emily McMartin (senior, Pella) and
Ava Parkins (junior, Monmouth, Ill., Burlington Notre Dame [Iowa] HS) competed for Central.
Parkins also ran the prelims of the women's 400-meter dash, clocking in at 58.12 and in 19th place.
The second day of action starts Saturday at 10 a.m. with the heptathlon's 60-meter hurdles.
