CEDAR RAPIDS — A pair of thrilling, narrow victories has Central College's
Cade Siebrecht (senior, Lisbon) in the 149-pound semifinals at the 2026 NCAA Division III Men's Wrestling Championships.
At the end of day one, Central is 16th in the team standings with 18.5 points. Wartburg College is in first with 61.5 points.
Siebrecht opened his day by beating Caleb Seyfried of Williams College (Mass.) 6-4. In his quarterfinal match against the 2024 national runner-up and No. 3 seed Angelo Centrone of Cortland State (N.Y.), Siebrecht was a double overtime winner. The match was 1-1 headed into overtime, both wrestlers escaped in the tiebreaker but Siebrecht did it three seconds faster to advance to the semifinals.
Siebrecht is guaranteed at least sixth place and a spot on the All-American podium.
Pierre Baldwin (senior, 141 pounds, Carol Stream, Ill., West Chicago HS) is also certain of his All-American status after going 2-1 Friday. The No. 6 seed won his opener in a 9-1 major decision against Joshua Robison of North Central College (Ill.). He lost his quarterfinal 8-0 against Wartburg College's Kade Blume but ended his day strong with a 21-5 technical fall against Marcus McIntyre of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
Baldwin will wrestle at least two more matches, starting with Cole Becker of Augsburg University (Minn.). He can finish anywhere from third to eighth place but will be on the podium.
Senior
Sam West (senior, Burlington, Notre Dame HS) won a pair of matches in his first NCAA meet. He started his day with a 6-0 decision over Nick Rogers of Springfield College (Mass.). He followed that with a 11-4 against the No. 2 seed Josh Stahl of York College (Pa.).
In the consolation rounds, West added a 7-3 decision over AJ Frescura of North Central College (Ill.) before bowing out via fall against Gunnar Garriques of the University of Chicago (Ill.).
The wrestlers return to the mat at 10 a.m. from the Alliant Energy Powerhouse Saturday.
