Dutch men hang on to No. 6 spot in national track and field list

Central women No. 11 after big weekend

NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA — A big weekend for the Central College women's track and field team saw it climb from No. 21 to No. 11 in the third USTFCCCCA Indoor Checkpoint of the season Tuesday.
           
The Central men dropped one spot to No. 6.

Points in the National Team Rating Index are based off placement in the National Descending Order Lists. The higher an athlete sits on the top-35 list, the more points he or she adds to his or her team's total. These points do not reflect placement or scoring at the NCAA Championships but are to show the individuals and teams that have the best chances at scoring well at said meet.

Alivia Roerdink (sophomore, Tiffin, Ohio, Hopewell-Loudon HS), Kennedy Petersen (freshman, Story City, Roland-Story HS), Emily McMartin (senior, Pella), and Ava Parkins (senior, Monmouth, Ill., Burlington Notre Dame [Iowa] HS clocked the country's fastest 4x400-meter relay time to win the Wartburg Indoor Select in 3 minutes, 49.85 seconds. Olivia Bohlen (senior, Belle Plaine) put together the second best pentathlon mark, which is down to 3,555 points after conversion. Parkins 400-meter dash time is also now No. 7 in 56.94 seconds.

The only change in the top-10 for Dutch men individuals was Kale Purcell (fifth year, Holton, Kan.) is now No. 5 in the triple jump with a leap of 49 feet, 0.75 inches.
           
Central is competing at the Darren Young Classic hosted by Grinnell College Friday and Saturday. A select group of distance runners are set to compete at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University.
