GRINNELL —
Piper Eighmy's (senior, Birmingham, Ala., Briarwood Christian HS) header in the 53rd minute secured a 1-0 road win for the Central College women's soccer team at Grinnell College Saturday.
A corner kick from
Rylee Rustad (senior, Gilbert, Ariz., Casteel HS) found Eighmy's head in the box and the senior buried it to give Central the lead it would not relinquish.
Central had a season-low nine shot attempts but challenged the keeper to make five saves. Dutch goalkeeper
Zoey Sizemore (senior, Omaha, Neb., Mercy HS) made the three saves she needed to preserve the team's sixth shutout of the season.
"Today was another great team win against a very tough Grinnell side who is well coached," coach
Mike Kobylinski said.
Central starts American Rivers Conference play next Wednesday at noon with a home match against Nebraska Wesleyan University.
"Sitting at 8-1 heading into the leading is a great feeling," Kobylinski said.
