PELLA — A 29-21 lead by the Wartburg College women's basketball team at halftime expanded to an 80-43 loss for the Central College women's basketball team Saturday.
Central (7-9, 2-5 American Rivers Conference) gave up 31 points in the third quarter to Wartburg (10-6, 6-1 conference) after a strong defensive first half. Wartburg shot 70.6% from the field in the third quarter, including a 6-for-10 line on 3-pointers.
Maddie Backer (freshman, New Ulm, Minn.) led Central with eight points and
McKenzie Snook (sophomore, Chariton) added seven to lead the team.
Aubrie Haynes (freshman, Bondurant, Bondurant-Farrar HS) was 2-for-3 on 3-point attempts.
Kaitlyn Mumm (junior, Waukee, Des Moines Christian HS) had a team-high six rebounds and
Bailey Reding (senior, Grundy Center) had five assists.
CeCe Moore (junior, Waterloo, West HS) had three blocks.
The Dutch play Wednesday night at Coe College in a 5:30 p.m. contest.
