PELLA — Four players reached double figures in scoring as the Central College men's basketball team secured its first American Rivers Conference win of the season against Wartburg College Saturday.
Central (8-8, 1-6 American Rivers Conference) led for 24 minutes after the lead changed hands five times against Wartburg (10-6, 2-5 conference). Central extended its streak to six wins in a row over Wartburg.
Kyle Cason (freshman, Grimes, Dallas Center-Grimes HS) had 19 points to lead the Dutch in scoring.
Owen Schipper (sophomore, Waukee) and
Anthony Gott (sophomore, Davenport, North Scott HS) each scored 16 points, doing most of their work in the lane. Central scored 50 points in the paint.
Braylon Thomsen (freshman, Carbon Cliff, Ill., Davenport Assumption [Iowa]) added 11 points.
Schipper had 11 rebounds to register a double-double. The Dutch outrebounded the Knights 44-41.
Bradley Curren (junior, Harlan) had six assists and Gott had four.
Central travels to Coe College for a 7:30 p.m. game Wednesday.
