PELLA— It was a good homecoming weekend for
Maddy Stevens (freshman, Grimes, Dallas Center-Grimes HS) as she was the individual champion of the Dutch Open on Friday, September 26. Stevens completed the 6,000-meter run in a dominant 22 minutes and 57.8 seconds, beating the rest of the pack by over twenty seconds. With this performance, Stevens earned American Rivers Conference Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week, making it the third time she's done so in just as many meets.
Central as a team dominated the rest of the field, finishing in first place out of five teams at the meet. The Dutch finished with 19 points, ahead of second-place Grinnell College who had 42 points. They have now finished in first place in all three of their meets this season and will look to continue to do so on Saturday, October 4 when they travel to Waverly to compete in the Dan Huston Invitational hosted by Wartburg College.
