PELLA—The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association released its academic honors for cross country Thursday and Central College's women's and men's team were prominently featured.
Individual student-athletes must compile a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or greater on a 4.0 scale and finish among the top 25 percent of finishers at their respective regional championships. Teams are recognized by compiling a cumulative GPA of 3.10 or greater and competing in at least five different varsity competitions with at least five runners representing their school at each meet.
From the men's team,
Jack Brown (senior, Norwalk), Ben Every (freshman, Grimes, Dallas Center-Grimes HS) and
William Wadsley (junior, Gilbert) were all first-time honorees.
Peyton Steffen (senior, Marion) led the women's team with her second selection.
Teah Miller (junior, Iowa Falls, Iowa Falls-Alden HS), Kyra Cordes (freshman, Marion), Addison Doughan (freshman, Clear Lake) and
Maddy Stevens (freshman, Grimes, Dallas Center-Grimes HS) all made their debuts.
The women's team posted a lofty 3.47 combined grade point average to gain all-academic honors for the 16th straight year and the 19th time overall. The Dutch men were cited for the 11thtime in 12 years and eighth year in a row with a 3.26 GPA.
